Job Requirements

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Wood Products, Engineering, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance in the wood products manufacturing environment
  • 1 - 3 years supervisory experience preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming and ability to read and interpret schematics preferred
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to solve facility issues and prioritize site issues as they arise
  • Knowledge of sawmill and millwork production equipment, tools and maintenance
  • CAD experience preferred
  • Electrical experience preferred
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Strong technical, leadership, teamwork, decision making, problem solving, and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Arranges for, coordinates, and manages appropriate third-party contractor support as needed
  • Assist in the selection of the facility’s new hires, employee coaching, and disciplinary issues
  • Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program for applicable machinery and equipment, and the building and grounds within the confines of an annual budget and will eventually track maintenance downtime
  • Develops and/or work on Continuous Improvement (CI) where he/she identifies opportunities
  • Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices, such as Lock-out/Tag-out and plays key role on internal plant safety
  • Keeps up on technological changes relative to KPI’s
  • May conduct performance evaluations of subordinates
  • May perform other or specified duties as directed by the Chief Operating Officer
  • Prepares and maintains maintenance reports for the Chief Operating Officer and other appropriate managerial personnel
  • Makes recommendations where applicable
  • Prepare the facility’s budget and secures estimates and cost quotes as needed
  • Prepare work schedules, assign work and oversee the work product while minimizing overtime and call-in hours when possible
  • Provides training for new and existing employees as directed by the Chief Operations Officer
  • Works with other plant managerial personnel to effectively maintain existing plant facilities and equipment, replacing, and/or makes recommendations and adjustments to plant facilities and equipment
