The Port of Bellingham is a Washington State special purpose municipal corporation serving the entire Whatcom County. Job Requirements
- Valid Washington State driver’s license is required
- ability to operate a variety of groundskeeping equipment
- capability to work independently and as part of a crew
- ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors
- willingness to comply with safety standards related to hazardous equipment and conditions
- availability for seasonal employment through end of November
Job Qualifications
- One-year paid grounds maintenance experience preferred
- knowledge of horticultural equipment operation preferred
- valid Washington State driver’s license required
Job Duties
- Operate variety of riding mowing equipment to mow turf areas
- operate power hand equipment such as hand mowers, weed eaters, edgers and blowers
- operate automotive equipment including pickup trucks with trailer attachments and utility tractors
- prune or remove trees and shrubs with pruners, loppers, bow saws and power chainsaws
- operate motor driven chipper equipment
- perform turf repairs, renovations and installations
- plant, fertilize and irrigate turf, trees and shrubs
- maintain shrub bed areas including edging, hand weeding and mulching, maintain ornamental and flower displays
- rake leaves and debris, operate power blowers, vacuums and high-pressure washers
- clean buildings and structures, empty trash containers and pick up litter
- assist with repairs, alterations and installation work to park buildings and equipment involving carpentry, painting, and masonry
- perform other duties as assigned
