Job Description

MobilizeGreen, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), is excited to offer a unique career opportunity through the Maintenance and Infrastructure Fellowship Program (MIFP). MobilizeGreen is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating pathways for environmental and conservation careers by connecting talented individuals with meaningful job opportunities on public lands. By collaborating with FWS, the implementer of the MIFP, MobilizeGreen aims to nurture the next generation of skilled maintenance professionals who are passionate about preserving and enhancing the nation’s natural resources.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED by start date
  • Age between 18 and 30 years old, veterans up to 35
  • Available to serve for 6 or 12 months in selected location
  • Ability to interpret oral and occasionally written instructions and follow safety practices
  • Skill in or ability to learn operation of tools and equipment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident

  • Strong interest in the FWS fellowship program
  • Ability to interpret oral and occasionally written instructions and follow safety practices
  • Skills with or ability to learn operation of tools and equipment

Job Duties

  • Complete up to 3,000 hours of on-the-job learning and structured academic curriculum
  • Work with supervisors, trainers, and MIFP coordinators to track on-the-job learning hours
  • Participate in Great American Outdoors Act Strike Force or Maintenance Action Team projects
  • Complete work process competencies checklist during fellowship
  • Lead small infrastructure projects including planning, safety, and reporting
  • Complete maintenance tasks and support other refuge programs
  • Attend all required MIFP, station, and refuge meetings and communicate with supervisors and coordinators
