MobilizeGreen, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), is proud to offer the Maintenance and Infrastructure Fellowship Program (MIFP), a unique opportunity designed for conservation-minded individuals seeking to begin or advance their careers in federal government maintenance trades. MobilizeGreen is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to creating access to meaningful careers, training, and education for underrepresented communities in the fields of conservation and environmental stewardship. Job Requirements

  • Received a high school diploma or GED by start date
  • Between 18 and 30 years old (veterans may apply up to age 35)
  • Availability to serve for 6 or 12 months at selected location
  • Ability to interpret oral and occasionally written instructions and follow safety practices
  • Skill in or ability to learn operation of tools and equipment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Physically able to work on rough terrain and carry equipment up to 40 lbs
  • Willingness to work indoors and outdoors, including remote sites with exposure to weather and wildlife

Job Qualifications

  • Strong interest in the FWS fellowship program
  • Ability to interpret oral and occasionally written instructions
  • Ability to learn operation of tools and equipment
  • Skills in maintenance and project management are beneficial
  • Effective communication skills
  • Willingness to work outdoors in variable conditions
  • Strong teamwork and leadership potential

Job Duties

  • Complete up to 3,000 hours of on-the-job learning and structured academic curriculum
  • Work with supervisors and coordinators to track learning hours
  • Participate in Great American Outdoors Act Strike Force or Maintenance Action Team projects every six months
  • Complete a Work Process Competencies Checklist covering each on-the-job learning category
  • Lead a small project including planning, safety, budgeting, and final reporting
  • Perform maintenance-related tasks 80% of the time and support other refuge programs 20% of the time
  • Attend all required meetings and communicate scheduling with supervisors and coordinators
