Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior custodial or housekeeping experience preferred
- Ability to perform moderately strenuous manual labor for extended periods
- Ability to operate cleaning machines and basic small equipment
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends or evenings if necessary
- Physical capability to shovel snow,mow grass and perform outdoor maintenance
- Reliable transportation to and from work site
Job Qualifications
- Some knowledge of the materials methods and practices used in cleaning operations
- Ability to learn the operations and care of vacuum cleaners,scrubbing machines,polishing machines and other custodian equipment
- Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment
- Ability to maintain a cleaning schedule and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Skill in communication and interpersonal interaction with co-workers,supervisor and public
Job Duties
- Sweeps,mops,scrubs,waxes and polishes floors by hand or machine,washes windows,screens,sills,woodwork,doors,walls and ceilings
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms,dusts and vacuums rooms
- Locks and unlocks doors
- Collects trash,disposes of waste,replaces light bulbs,makes routine repairs
- Shovels snow,mows grass,maintains outside walks,assists in keeping outside premises orderly
- Operates small tractor,snow blower or forklift
- Sets up and takes down equipment such as chairs,tables,stages,footlights and display booths for public events
- Sets up and cleans up for light lunches including coffee,water,soft drinks,cookies
- Cleans,maintains and stores tools and equipment
- Performs other duties of comparable level and type as required
