Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in economics, public administration, public relations, marketing, business administration or urban planning
  • three to five years of relevant experience in municipal economic development, public administration, marketing, community relations or a related field
  • valid state of Georgia driver’s license
  • acceptable general background check including local and state criminal history
  • acceptable driving record
  • satisfactory results from a pre-employment alcohol and controlled substance testing

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree in economics, public administration, public relations, marketing, business administration or urban planning
  • three to five years of experience in municipal economic development, public administration, marketing, community relations or related field
  • valid state of Georgia driver’s license
  • Main Street 101 Certification preferred
  • knowledge of National Main Street Program principles and goals
  • knowledge of economic development and business retention and recruitment
  • thorough knowledge of economic development processes and practices
  • knowledge of principles of governmental organization and administration
  • knowledge of modern office practices, methods and standard clerical procedures
  • skill in operating a computer
  • skill in oral and written communication
  • ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships
  • ability to research, compose and submit grant applications
  • ability to prepare clear and concise reports
  • ability to work independently
  • good judgment, tact and professionalism

Job Duties

  • Coordinates activities of revitalization and downtown development with Main Street ensuring communication between committees is well established
  • develops strategies for downtown development using the National Main Street approach
  • assists in coordinating the implementation of the Main Street Program and identifies economic development opportunities
  • coordinates and completes monthly and annual reporting and accreditation processes
  • implements marketing strategies to encourage business development and retention
  • coordinates and enhances events, promotions, and advertising strategies to maximize community image and retail opportunities
  • assists in scheduling, coordinating and promoting new business ribbon cuttings
  • assists with communication among economic development agencies
  • coordinates programs to ensure appropriate streetscape and landscape features, signage, banners, ADA compliance and pedestrian safety
  • researches and applies for grants supporting city-wide improvement projects
  • coordinates partnerships to promote Main Street business conditions and relationships with public agencies
  • coordinates event activities and volunteers for downtown events
  • operates office and computer equipment necessary to complete essential functions
  • performs basic maintenance of computer systems and equipment
  • attends Main Street training and continuing education
  • performs other related duties as assigned
