Job Requirements
- Three years of experience as a cook in a high-volume restaurant
- Proficiency in braising, sautéing, broiling, and poaching
- Proficient use of kitchen tools such as slicer, mixer, robo coupe, tongs, and knives
- Basic knife skills
- Ability to identify pan and knife types
- Knowledge of sanitary practices
- Possession of basic culinary tools
- Working knowledge of weights, measures, and cooking techniques
- Reading and math skills for recipe measurements
- Knowledge of MSDS program
- Ability to stand long periods
- Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
- Math skills in various units
- Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency
- Must successfully pass a drug screening test
- Must be able to successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing

Job Duties
- Support and uphold Valley View Casino's Standards of Excellence
- Maintain positive guest relations and resolve guest complaints
- Greet guests using personalized service
- Provide clear direction, instruction, and guidance to team members
- Organize and delegate work assignments to meet deadlines
- Train lower-level cooks on proper equipment usage
- Communicate regularly with senior kitchen staff
- Prepare food items according to standard recipes and menu
- Apply various cooking techniques
- Work with delicate and sensitive equipment requiring fine finger dexterity
- Prepare base sauces, stocks, and soups
- Participate in cooking, preparing, plating, and assembling food
- Operate kitchen equipment including slicer, steamer, deep fryer, ovens, broiler, grill, mixer, kettle, and flat top
- Maintain knowledge of all food products
- Prepare order lists for recipe preparations
- Perform side work such as restocking work station supplies
- Adhere to food cost and quality control procedures
- Rotate products on the first-in, first-out principle with proper labeling and dating
- Check station for setup and cleanliness
- Follow all health codes and safety procedures
- Strive for picture-perfect plate presentation
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Maintain consistent attendance
- Conduct all responsibilities professionally and ethically
