Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • Availability to work scheduled shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in food service is preferred
  • Strong understanding of cooking techniques, recipes, and food preparation methods
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
  • ServSafe knowledge is preferred
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays
  • Commitment to maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance

Job Duties

  • Review food menus and work orders to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared and any therapeutic diets
  • Prepare and serve meals as specified in menus and recipes using Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines
  • Maintain stock of food and beverage items and supplies along with time and date for all food items
  • Assist in serving meals and clearing the dining area
  • Perform duties as assigned including understanding and following instructions, communicating respectfully and professionally, listening and working in a fast-paced environment, working as a team, solving problems quickly, learning and following all safety, infection control, and sanitation practices, respecting residents' rights, and following rules applicable to dining room activities
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in extreme hot and cold conditions
  • Work within standard policy and procedures and with limited direct supervision
  • Handle a variety of tasks and functions and react calmly in emergency situations
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations
