Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in hospitality or food and beverage service preferred
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of wine, coffee, and beverage preparation preferred
- Ability to follow sanitation and safety protocols
- Must be at least 21 years old and legally authorized to serve alcohol
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Basic math skills for handling transactions
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks
- Strong attention to detail and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in bistro, restaurant, or hospitality environment
- Knowledge of wine varietals, tasting notes, and food pairings
- Proficiency in operating POS systems
- Ability to train new team members
- Experience with coffee machines and specialty beverage preparation
- Food safety and alcohol service certification (such as TIPS or equivalent)
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Job Duties
- Greet guests warmly and provide knowledgeable recommendations on food, wine, and coffee
- Perform proficiently in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking
- Serve measured wine and beverages responsibly
- Guide guests through the menu, answer questions, and ensure a seamless dining and tasting experience
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of wine offerings including varietals, tasting notes, and production methods
- Educate guests on wine and food pairings and make thoughtful recommendations
- Stay up-to-date on seasonal menu changes and complementing wines and beverages
- Assist in training new team members on wine selections and food pairings
- Participate in wine tastings and staff training to improve product knowledge
- Operate coffee machines and related equipment including steaming milk and executing latte art
- Mix drinks and specialty beverages according to company recipes
- Check guest identification to verify age requirements for alcohol service
- Follow liquor regulations including prohibitions on serving minors and intoxicated guests
- Execute all opening and closing procedures including setting up and breaking down stations
- Operate the POS system to process transactions accurately including cash and credit card handling
- Support all FOH functions including food preparation, food running, table setting, bussing, and restocking supplies
- Assist with event setup and breakdown
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas including dining spaces, bar, storage areas, restrooms, and patio
- Clear, sanitize, and reset tables promptly
- Clean and sanitize areas using established practices and procedures
- Maintain bar cleanliness including counters, sinks, utensils, and storage areas
- Follow sanitation and safety protocols including proper handling of tableware, glassware, and trash disposal
- Bag and haul trash to designated dumpsters
- Practice safe working habits and take required rest breaks and meal periods in a timely manner
- Stock and replenish bar and retail inventory ensuring all items are properly labeled and priced
- Communicate clearly with guests, coworkers, and management
- Conclude the dining experience by acknowledging and thanking guests and inviting them to return
- Obtain revenues by totaling charges, issuing bills, accepting payments, delivering bills and payments to host, and returning change or credit card slips
- Report guest concerns, account updates, or operational issues to management
- Participate in training classes and seminars
- Assist with special projects or work at other venues as needed
- Operate all company vehicles at appropriate speed and with caution
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management to ensure smooth operations
