Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education or up to one month related experience or training
  • High school diploma or GED or one to three months related experience or training
  • One year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience or training
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one year related experience or training
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and perform math operations with money, weight, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple instructions
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Job Duties

  • Compare serial numbers of incoming cars against invoice
  • Inspect vehicles to detect damage and verify presence of accessories
  • Record description of damages and list missing items on delivery receipt
  • Park new vehicles in assigned areas
  • Catalog and store keys
  • Assign stock control numbers to cars
  • Move sold vehicles to maximize space and keep lot in order
  • Deliver sold vehicles to new-vehicle preparation department
  • Service vehicles in storage to protect tires, battery, and finish against deterioration
  • Maintain new- and used-vehicle inventory appearance and performance by cleaning interior and exterior, replenishing fluids, and replacing batteries when necessary
  • Place buyer guides and stock tags in vehicles
  • Keep new- and used-vehicle lots neat and orderly, moving cars as directed by general manager
  • Clean driveway and sidewalks, removing snow and debris
  • Drive vehicles to and from service lane, service stalls, and parking lot
  • Make key tags for vehicles
  • Perform other duties as assigned
