Job Requirements

  • Valid Connecticut driver's license class D
  • At least 21 years old with no active suspensions
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience driving vans or trucks
  • Compliance with Department of Transportation regulations including possession of necessary medical certifications
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment
  • Physically fit to drive and perform manual tasks in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to maintain accurate logs and documentation
  • Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work under supervision

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience driving a van with clean driving record
  • Experience driving a truck 20 feet or longer preferred
  • Familiarity with Department of Transportation regulations
  • Valid Connecticut driver license class D
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment including propane fork trucks and electric pallet trucks
  • Basic math skills
  • Good hearing, reflexes, hand-eye coordination, and eyesight
  • Ability to follow safety and operational protocols
  • Willingness to undergo medical and driver record reviews as required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Operates department delivery vehicle safely to ensure timely and organized handling of contents
  • Loads and unloads hospital vehicle as required
  • Drives hospital vehicle obeying Connecticut state rules of the road
  • Maintains accurate driver log daily documenting trip times and deliveries
  • Communicates delivery details and coordinates with dock staff
  • Maintains consistent delivery schedules for smooth operations
  • Transports mail and separates incoming materials appropriately
  • Documents daily delivery activities and maintains route slip files
  • Follows safety procedures for vehicle and equipment operation
  • Maintains equipment, fills vehicle battery water, replaces propane tanks
  • Keeps truck bay clean and coordinates vehicle repairs
  • Verifies incoming materials, replenishes shelves, and reports variances
  • Performs cycle counts and assists with inventory management
  • Responds to user service requests courteously and works overtime as needed
  • Fills in for other logistics or receiving personnel as directed
