Job Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • previous experience in sales or marketing
  • ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • manual dexterity for data entry, stooping, bending for filing
  • good listening and speaking ability
  • computer literacy including Windows and Excel
  • self-motivated with negotiation skills
  • facility with handling a fast-paced work environment

Job Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • previous experience in sales or marketing
  • previous experience in the trucking industry is a plus
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong organizational ability and attention to detail
  • ability to handle a fast-paced work environment
  • problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • self-motivated with negotiation skills
  • proficiency in Windows and Excel or similar programs

Job Duties

  • Drive daily and weekly load count, revenue and margin goals for a specific region
  • develop current carrier base for consistent lane specific volumes
  • negotiate pricing and solicit business from existing customers to secure freight for contracted carriers
  • work directly with sales and management to assist in developing pricing for larger customers
  • monitor EDI system for available freight and ensure correct reason codes for rejected shipments
  • act as a mentor for new employees and assist in training as needed
  • identify new traffic lanes for potential growth
  • verify all carriers meet company safety standards
  • meet departmental and personal profit margin goals
  • travel up to 10 percent of scheduled time
  • work independently and as a cohesive team member to maximize profitability
  • perform other duties as assigned
