Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in warehousing or a combination of 2 years of warehousing and 1 year of HazMat experience with HazMat license endorsement
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver heavy cylinders by rolling, carts, dollies, etc
  • General knowledge of standard safety practices and procedures relating to warehouse operations and equipment
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Be forklift certified
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, pull and push throughout the workday
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, which includes drug testing
  • Consent to initial and random drug testing throughout employment
  • Consent to initial and random review of CDL report
  • Ability to work in a warehouse setting with occasional exposure to industrial operations such as temperatures and noise
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs of shipping supplies, packages, furniture, lab supplies, etc
  • Possess a valid California Driver's License for a minimum of 4 years
  • Have current HazMat endorsement or obtain the endorsement within the first 6 months of employment

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, pull, and push throughout the workday

Job Duties

  • Transfer, collect, load, and deliver industrial gases and liquids to and from containers
  • Maintain equipment to the highest level of safety standards and report mechanical issues
  • Conduct and document pre and post vehicle inspections and visual tank inspections
  • Collaborate with Supervisor for routing and scheduling
  • Notify Supervisor of any product, routing, scheduling, or safety issues immediately
  • Oversee cleanliness and safety of Warehouse
  • Organize and maintain warehouse inventory for efficient storage and handling
  • Transport materials in liquid or packaged form to and from campus locations
  • Process material requests in a timely manner
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Move furniture and equipment for relocations and deliveries
  • Report on work orders for material movement and inventory location
  • Provide courier services for package pick-up and delivery
  • Support Shipping and Receiving operations
  • Safely operate vehicles including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Ensure vehicles are in good operating condition and clean
  • Follow laws and procedures for operating commercial vehicles
  • Maintain contact with supervisor and dispatch for scheduling and adjustments
  • Drive car or van to transport Caltech community members and guests
  • Assist passengers with boarding and loading packages
  • Regulate vehicle systems for rider comfort
  • Report delays, accidents, and safety hazards
  • Complete other projects or duties as assigned
