Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and/or CDL license
- Clean driving record
- Minimum 3 years as a horizontal directional drilling locator
Job Qualifications
- Experience as an HDD locator
- Strong knowledge of underground utilities, utility locating, and HDD operations
- Ability to read and understand bore plans, maps, and utility marking systems
- Valid driver’s license, CDL a plus
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather and terrain
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs regularly
Job Duties
- Operate and interpret locating equipment such as DigiTrak and Subsite to guide drill operator
- Walk the bore path, track the drill head, and communicate depth, pitch, and alignment
- Read plans, prints, and utility locates to plan bore path
- Identify potential conflicts with existing utilities and adjust drilling strategy
- Perform potholing and verification of utilities
- Communicate clearly with drill operator, laborers, and supervision throughout the bore
- Set up, maintain, and organize jobsite equipment and tools
- Assist with pullback, pipe handling, and jobsite restoration
- Maintain equipment logs, daily drilling reports, and bore shot documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
- Support crew with other tasks as needed such as mixing mud and vacuum excavation
