Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
minimum one year experience in similar role
knowledge of beverage service and products
ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
physical ability to stand for extended periods
ability to handle cash and POS systems accurately
excellent verbal communication skills
adherence to company policies and safety regulations
customer-focused attitude
basic computer skills
willingness to undergo background checks and training
valid work authorization.

Job Qualifications

prior experience in bar or beverage service preferred

knowledge of beverage preparation and service techniques

familiarity with POS systems and order entry

Job Duties

Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy
Always maintain positive guest relations
Be familiar with all hotel services/features to respond to guest inquiries accurately
Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet
Maintain knowledge of the characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list
Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drink
Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving
Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code of assigned outlet
Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies
Always keep bank secure
Obtain outlet keys from Security
Complete opening side duties including checking quality and amount of all bar beverage stock and supplies, completing inventory sheet, requisitioning supplies, transporting supplies from storeroom to bar, stocking ice, setting up bottles on display shelves and speed rail, preparing garnishes, stocking glassware and paper supplies, setting up tables with menus and other items, preparing mixes, checking condition and cleanliness of equipment, checking refrigeration units, preparing bar snacks, and stocking rolled silverware
Inspect cleanliness and condition of bar, guest and service areas, rectify deficiencies
Greet guests and take their orders using suggestive/up-selling techniques
Input orders into system and ensure transmission to kitchen
Document orders manually when system is down
Ensure all drink orders are accurately rung before serving
Prepare all drinks according to outlet recipes
Provide club service for designated beverages
Serve drinks to guests
Retrieve food orders and serve to guests
Open and serve wine/champagne bottles
Prepare and serve cappuccino and espresso
Answer phones per service standards
Monitor and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of bar top, tables, service areas and outlet
Replace ashtrays and remove soiled wares
Present guest checks and process payments adhering to cash handling procedures
Extend courteous salutations and invite guests to return
Close guest checks in POS system
Clean and reset bar top and tables after guests depart
Clean glassware using machines or sinks
Direct and assist food and cocktail servers
Communicate last call to guests and servers
Collect and report tips
Document bottle transfers and spill sheet
Ensure maximum usage of supplies and prevent waste
Use chemicals per OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
Complete closing side duties including storing goods, emptying ice bins, scrubbing sinks, cleaning surfaces, securing liquors and storage, wiping down bottles, cleaning beverage equipment, counting empty bottles and documenting
Document in outlet logbook
Complete closing reports
Count bank and complete cashier reports, drop receipts and secure bank
Return outlet keys
Follow maintenance and cleaning schedules.
