Job Requirements

  • Prior experience supervising aircraft cargo loading and unloading
  • Familiarity with weight and balance calculation and documentation
  • Knowledge of FAA, IATA, and 49 CFR regulations
  • Ability to identify and correct loading discrepancies
  • Ability to coordinate with flight crews, ground personnel, and vendors
  • Completion or willingness to complete hazardous materials training
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to work in physically demanding ramp environments
  • Willingness to travel up to 10 percent including overnight weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience supervising and performing aircraft cargo loading and unloading
  • Familiarity with weight and balance calculation and load distribution principles
  • Knowledge of FAA, IATA, and 49 CFR regulations related to cargo, hazardous materials, and ramp safety
  • Ability to identify and correct loading discrepancies
  • Skilled in cargo security and documentation maintenance
  • Proficient in coordinating with flight crews, ground personnel, vendors, and regulatory agencies
  • Comfortable using ramp checklists, load planning tools, and company documentation systems
  • Completion of hazardous materials training or willingness to complete certification

Job Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness of aircraft cargo compartments and report damaged or unserviceable equipment
  • Conduct foreign object debris inspections before aircraft arrival and after cargo loading
  • Ensure cargo is properly packaged, labeled, weighed, secured, and documented in compliance with regulations
  • Operate and supervise aircraft cargo loading systems and direct labor crews
  • Prepare or oversee cargo weight and balance documentation
  • Act as liaison between company customers, vendors, handlers, and government agencies
  • Perform duties under the Pilot-in-Command when flying aboard aircraft
  • Supervise cargo-related flight activities including inspection of unit load devices and restraints
  • Ensure loading configuration complies with aircraft restrictions and company procedures
  • Verify proper positioning and serviceability of load and restraint systems
  • Perform load checks before departure ensuring cargo security and documentation accuracy
  • Confirm location and documentation of hazardous materials and prepare notification to captain
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of department goals
