Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales experience in the hospitality industry
  • 3+ years of team leadership experience
  • Knowledge of local and regional markets
  • Proficiency with computers including Windows environment, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Organizational and financial knowledge
  • Effective delegation and follow-up skills
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff, guests, and partners
  • Cultural tolerance and appreciation
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sales experience in the hospitality industry
  • 3+ years of team leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of local and regional markets, restaurant and venue operations, computers (Windows environment, spreadsheet, databases, word processing), and guest relations
  • Skill in interpersonal communications, organization, financial knowledge, and team building
  • Ability to delegate, follow up, and relate positively and effectively with staff, guests, and partners
  • Tolerance of all cultures, music, and art forms
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Job Duties

  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial goals
  • Proactively solicit new business opportunities by conducting effective sales calls, facilitating meetings and presentations to potential clients, handling special event inquiry calls, negotiating space, assisting with client catering needs, creating event proposals, and conducting site inspections
  • Negotiate and close contracts
  • Build and generate new leads through cold calls and market prospecting including conventions, corporations, DMCs, tour operators, meeting planners, associations, SMERF groups, concierges, hotels, and organizations
  • Develop a strategic and promotional plan to drive special event and rental sales for the venue or region to reach or exceed annual goals
  • Maximize sales revenue while developing long-term client relationships
  • Monitor changes in the industry and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Evaluate potential business from new clients for local and Live Nation’s portfolio venues
  • Develop relationships with local industries such as corporations, hotels, and non-profits
  • Fully integrate into CVB to capitalize on corporate and convention business
  • Engage with local and national hospitality organizations
  • Attend trade shows and sales events
  • Oversee financial aspects of venue promotion and sales
  • Create and implement sales productivity reports
  • Coordinate service vendors to fulfill client proposals and event needs
  • Manage special events software system file management
  • Implement strategic planning and forecasting
  • Oversee departmental accounting paperwork
  • Manage special event marketing budget
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to GM and VP of Sales including sales trends, bookings, revenue forecasts, and lost business
  • Train and develop sales team on effective sales techniques
  • Manage Sales Managers and provide strategic direction
  • Conduct weekly department meetings to set goals and new business strategies
  • Foster a positive team environment
  • Handle recruiting, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations
  • Monitor office procedures and communication
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations and mentoring
