Job Requirements

  • No prior experience required
  • physical ability to move furniture and use lightweight or hand-powered cleaning equipment
  • part-time availability for 20 to 34.5 hours per week
  • valid state driver’s license may be required
  • ability to complete required safety and security training
  • willingness to work in a military lodging environment
  • ability to follow NHG housekeeping protocols
  • ability to report unusual circumstances promptly
  • obtain proper food handling certification if required
  • commitment to maintaining guest privacy and security at all times

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • ability to operate cleaning equipment
  • strong attention to detail
  • good communication skills
  • ability to interact courteously with guests
  • knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety protocols
  • ability to perform physical tasks involving moderate effort
  • willingness to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months
  • basic maintenance skills
  • understanding of guest privacy and security standards

Job Duties

  • Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas
  • operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, waxer, and polisher
  • empties wastebaskets
  • dusts, waxes, and polishes room furniture
  • washes walls, partitions, air vents
  • disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls and lavatories
  • washes and replaces window treatments
  • cleans ceiling fixtures
  • changes light bulbs and room partitions
  • moves furniture to clean under and behind
  • cleans bathroom areas including tub, tile, walls, commode, floors, and vanity
  • cleans kitchen area including stoves, ovens, microwave, refrigerator, cabinets, and floor
  • washes and disinfects dishes, utensils, and cookware
  • cleans iron and ironing board
  • ensures proper functionality of luggage racks and availability of hangers
  • cleans and programs TVs, alarm clocks, and in-room phones
  • places amenities in rooms
  • removes and replaces bed linen
  • inspects mattresses and pull-out sofas
  • moves or repositions beds
  • greets and welcomes guests while maintaining guest relations
  • ensures guest privacy and security
  • cleans corridors, stairways, laundry, patios, balconies
  • shampoos rugs and carpets
  • completes scheduled carpet cleaning
  • performs deep cleaning on schedule or after pet/ADA stays
  • maintains cleanliness of storage rooms
  • communicates room status to supervisor
  • performs minor repairs and reports major repairs
  • cleans exterior spaces
  • loads and unloads trucks
  • manages keys
  • reports unusual circumstances
  • manages lost and found items
  • sets up and cleans breakfast bar
  • completes safety and security training
  • maintains clean and safe environment
  • applies blood-borne pathogen safety knowledge
  • performs laundry operations
  • may travel to other facilities
  • obtains NHG certification within six months
  • performs other related duties as assigned
