Job Duties
- Collects soiled laundry sorts and weighs laundry washes and dries laundry
- distributes clean linens and maintains stock levels
- makes and repairs cloth rubber and plastic articles using a sewing machine or by hand
- assists peers as necessary and performs daily housekeeping duties in assigned area
- assists with flatwork finishing shakes out dry clean laundry and folds for mangling
- contributes to achievement of department goals and adheres to policies procedures quality and safety standards
- inspects laundry at various stages for cleanliness and advises or recommends changes to washing procedures
- keeps records of laundry processed daily and checks linen supplies and usage by department
- assembles supply packs delivers linens to user departments and takes supply requests
- marks dimensions cut articles and sews pieces using sewing machine or by hand
- measures and alters hospital apparel keeps log of completed work and maintains sewing equipment
- operates mechanical equipment safely assists in maintenance of facilities equipment and supplies and helps clean machines and floors
- participates in meetings and quality improvement teams
- receives collects sorts delivers and washes soiled laundry observing universal precautions
- stacks and delivers linen to storeroom nursing units ancillary departments and offsite customers
- loads and unloads washing machines and dryers
