Job Duties
- Collects soiled laundry from hospital areas
- sorts and weighs laundry
- washes and dries linen
- distributes clean linens and maintains stock levels
- operates and maintains washing and drying equipment
- makes and repairs cloth, rubber, and plastic articles using sewing machine or hand sewing
- inspects laundry cleanliness and advises on washing procedures
- records total weight of processed laundry for departmental charges
- prepares and delivers supply packs to hospital departments
- measures and alters hospital apparel
- maintains sewing equipment and workspace cleanliness
- participates in department meetings and quality improvement teams
- assists in housekeeping duties
- observes safety protocols in handling soiled linens
