Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One or more years of relevant linen and laundry experience
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous physical activities
- Willingness to work 1st or 3rd shift evening hours
- Ability to follow safety and infection control policies
- Good communication skills to interact with hospital staff and customers
- Ability to use handheld computing devices for data entry
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- One or more years of linen and laundry experience
- Ability to operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting and strenuous labor
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Distributes clean linen and collects soiled linen throughout the hospital including all patient care units, ICU, Emergency Room, and outpatient clinics
- Follows all safety and infection prevention policies and reports hazards
- Removes bulk clean linen carts from vendor trucks and loads soiled linen bins for transport
- Inventories and restocks linen exchange carts daily and records linen usage data
- Transports linen exchange carts and bulk delivery carts throughout the facility and communicates with customers upon delivery
- Collects soiled linens and transports them to designated storage areas following infection control procedures
- Operates washers and dryers using proper chemical and safety procedures
- Answers telephone and pager requests, processes linen orders, and serves customers at the linen department window
- Assists in training new employees and may assume some leadership responsibilities
- Performs other duties such as environmental cleaning and sanitation of exchange carts as assigned
