Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least 21 years of age
  • 1-2 years of food service or hospitality industry experience preferred
  • Basic math skills required
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English required
  • Ability to manage stress and perform in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work well under time constraints and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Ability to consistently maintain clean and professional appearance
  • Physical ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Job Duties

  • Apply thorough knowledge, understanding and application of culinary techniques to consistently execute menu items
  • Monitor all meals being served for appearance, quality standards, portion control and temperature standards in accordance with the established policies and procedures
  • Ensure all stations are properly set prior to service and ensure sufficient supply of high-quality mis-en-place is set for the next shift
  • Support a culture of safety by upholding safety standards and reporting injuries timely
  • Safely use all kitchen equipment and apply advanced knife skills
  • Assist the Chef and Sous Chef in controlling food and labor costs, purchasing, receiving, purveyor lists and inventory of kitchen items
  • Ensure meal and rest breaks are made available to team members and record meal periods accurately
  • Assist in establishing proper par levels of finished products and ingredients and conduct inventories
  • Properly label, date, rotate and store all products to ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Maintain clean, safe and presentable production and merchandising areas
  • Communicate effectively with management, guests and team members to respond to needs and inquiries satisfactorily
  • Utilize the point-of-sale system to accurately enter guest information and complete sales
  • Bag orders efficiently and neatly preserving item quality and presentation
  • Set the tone for the shift and assume responsibility for shift results
  • Secure the building especially at closing, ensuring the safe and doors are locked and alarm set
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary
