Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum one year experience in a similar position preferred
- valid Texas Driver's License on hire with a good driving record
- ability to complete NATA training within six months of hire
- willingness to perform first response firefighting duties
- ability to work essential employee shifts before, during and after emergencies
- strong communication skills
- ability to follow City and departmental policies and procedures
- ability to work in team-oriented environment
- physical ability to perform duties involving fueling, equipment operation, and aircraft servicing
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- one year or more experience in a similar position is desired
- valid Texas Driver's License on hire with a good driving record
- knowledge of safe handling of fuel products
- familiarity of all types of general aviation and corporate aircraft
- knowledge of towing all types of aircraft
- ability to complete NATA online training with a minimum score of 80
- ability to pass practical NATA training administered by a Line Supervisor with a minimum score of 80
- understanding of regulations involved in handling and disposal of regulated international trash
- knowledge of driving on airport restricted areas
- understanding of FAA regulations regarding airport runway and taxiway operations and aircraft handling
- ability to communicate effectively with the ATC control tower
- understanding of EPA and SPCC regulations regarding fuel spill prevention and clean-up
- knowledge of US customs responsibilities
- ability to use and connect appropriate ground power equipment to aircraft
Job Duties
- Safely drives, services and fuels all types of aircraft and airport equipment, including refueling mobile refueling trucks
- Marshals in and out aircraft on arrivals and departures
- greets all pilots and passengers
- assists passengers with luggage
- takes written fuel order from passenger or pilot and relays to appropriate employee
- services oil on aircraft as directed by the supervisor or aircraft captain
- Collects ramp fees and fuel charges
- maintains fuel truck records on a daily basis
- Services aircraft, which includes removing all trash, newspapers, etc. off the aircraft
- fueling aircraft
- lavatory servicing
- loading and unloading luggage
- towing vehicle
- providing water service (using the water service cart)
- windshield washing
- supplying amenities such as newspapers and catering
- Fuels aircraft in a safe manner using methods learned from NATA and in-house training, including avgas and jet aircraft
- Performs minor maintenance on airport equipment
- washes airport equipment, trucks, loaner cars and other vehicles as directed
- performs regularly scheduled safety checks on ground equipment and fuel trucks
- inspects T-hangars for function and customer adherence to hangar rules and policies
- reports all discrepancies to the supervisor or manager on duty
- Responsible for first response firefighting as noted in NATA training
- Maintains regular attendance
- required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster
- stays abreast of and complies with all City and departmental policies and procedures
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director or their designee
