Job Requirements

  • Qualification in commercial cookery from an internationally recognized institution
  • Minimum of 1 year chef experience
  • Knowledge of procedures and methods used in preparation, production, presentation and storage of food items
  • Food handler's certification

Job Duties

  • Follow the standard recipes, methods of preparation, and presentation according to department/hotel standards
  • Be familiar with the menu including ingredients, portion size, cooking method, preparation time, and presentation
  • Constantly check prepared food for taste, temperature, and visual appeal
  • Check all fridges and storerooms daily to ensure proper temperature and quality of perishables
  • Prevent use of spoiled or contaminated products in food preparation
  • Maintain proper grooming and be on duty according to schedule
  • Maintain sufficient mise-en-place and report shortages to senior chef
  • Ensure perishable items are properly stored and workstations are clean before shift end
  • Take full charge of assigned section and carry out routine tasks independently
  • Follow all food safety standards such as HACCP and DIVERSEY
  • Participate in on-the-job training and mentoring
  • Assist with duties assigned by line manager or management team
  • Support stewarding team when needed
  • Perform daily cleaning of stations, equipment, and other duties as assigned
