Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • One to two years of related experience
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 70 pounds
  • Full range of mobility
  • Ability to stand continuously during preparation and service hours
  • Ability to hear equipment timers and communicate effectively
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • One to two years of employment in a related kitchen or culinary position
  • Knowledge of cooking practices and kitchen procedures
  • Ability to perform non-repetitive analytical kitchen work

Job Duties

  • Check all items against recipe cards and verify use records
  • Monitor line setup prior to meal functions for maximum efficiency
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and equipment maintenance following "clean as you go" policy
  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and portion standards
  • Start food items prepared ahead of time, aligning with estimated needs
  • Date and rotate food containers per standard operating procedures
  • Check pars for shift use and determine necessary preparation and freezer pull
  • Note out-of-stock items or possible shortages
  • Assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • Return unused food items to storage areas and cover/date perishables
  • Assist in setting up plans to correct food cost problems and control food waste
