Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • one to two years of related employment experience
  • knowledge of cooking and kitchen procedures
  • ability to perform analytical work related to non-repetitive cooking tasks
  • physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 70 lbs
  • ability to stand continuously during shifts
  • capacity to work in varying temperature environments from -10 degrees in freezer to over 100 degrees on the line
  • ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Check all items against the recipe cards and verify use records for all items served
  • monitor the line set up prior to all meal functions to ensure efficiency
  • ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and the kitchen adheres to the clean as you go policy
  • prepare food consistent with recipe cards and production standards
  • start food items prepared ahead of time without exceeding estimated needs
  • date and rotate all food containers according to SOP while maintaining proper temperatures
  • check pars for shift use and determine necessary preparation and freezer pulls
  • note out-of-stock items or shortages and assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • return unused food items to storage with proper coverage and dating
  • assist in food cost control efforts including waste reduction and usage according to SOP
