Job Requirements

  • Previous cooking or prep cooking experience
  • Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment such as broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with team members and guests
  • Proficiency in English reading, writing and speaking
  • Capacity to work efficiently in a team-driven, fast paced environment
  • Valid food handling certificate as mandated by law
  • Flexibility to maintain excellent attendance and work scheduled events
  • Availability to work at the Seattle Aquarium in Seattle, WA

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cook or prep cook experience
  • Able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
  • ServSafe preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide high quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
  • Prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
  • Participate as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, service and delivery of product
  • Report any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
  • Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
  • Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
  • Portion, arrange and garnish food plates for delivery to guests
  • Consult with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate food consumption
  • Maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled
