Job Requirements

  • Must have experience or training in food preparation
  • Ability to work various shifts including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be familiar with kitchen equipment and tools and their safe operation
  • Must be organized and able to maintain high quality standards

Job Qualifications

  • Some food preparation experience or training preferred
  • Familiarity with proper use and maintenance of relevant kitchen equipment and machinery
  • Thorough knowledge of proper use and storage of all relevant kitchen tools and equipment
  • Organized, efficient, and able to meet high quality standards for service
  • Good team player
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with co-workers and the public
  • Courteous, friendly, and professional manner
  • Ability to work productively with little supervision
  • Ability to multitask in a high pressure environment

Job Duties

  • Follow all specifications to properly and efficiently prepare and present all food items including special guest requests
  • Prepare hot foods, side dishes, and specialty items for employee meals using leftover food from special functions
  • Properly handle all products used in hotel cooking including trimming, cutting, marinating, covering, labeling, and storing
  • Assist in preparing food for banquet functions as directed
  • Ensure proper portions of meat, fish, and poultry are served to each restaurant and banquet function
  • Ensure quality and quantity of all meats, fish, and poultry delivered to the hotel
  • Take daily inventory of items in meat cooler and fish storage and assist in ordering stock
  • Rotate food in refrigerator to minimize waste and spoilage
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation including internal cleanliness of iceboxes
  • Monitor and report food waste and equipment issues
  • Assist in ordering food supplies as directed
  • Properly set up hot or cold line stations following specifications
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Immediately report suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times
  • Conduct departmental safety training for new kitchen employees
  • Follow all company safety standards and use equipment properly to avoid injury
