Job Requirements

  • Must meet state and local requirements for food handler’s certification
  • certification must be obtained by first day or within required timeline
  • previous experience preferred
  • open to varied work schedules and hours based on restaurant needs
  • must be able to stand for several hours
  • must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach for objects at various heights
  • must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects up to 40 pounds
  • ability to serve guests’ needs with a high sense of urgency
  • ability to have fun

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous cooking experience preferred but not required
  • ability to follow recipes and food safety standards
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • ability to manage multiple cooking tasks simultaneously
  • food handler’s certification or willingness to obtain by required timeline

Job Duties

  • Master the fry station, ensuring all fried items are cooked to perfection with the right crispiness and flavor
  • operate the grill station, cooking proteins to the correct temperature and ensuring each taco ingredient is grilled to perfection
  • manage the sauté station, handling various ingredients to create dishes that are flavorful and perfectly cooked
  • operate steam equipment to prepare dishes that require steaming, maintaining the right texture and flavor
  • assemble and build each taco to order, ensuring each one meets high standards and guests’ expectations
  • prepare and cook a variety of ingredients according to Torchy’s recipes and standards
  • monitor the quality and presentation of each dish before it reaches the guest
  • maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met
  • work closely with other back-of-house team members to ensure timely and correct food preparation
  • assist with stocking and organizing ingredients to ensure the kitchen is prepared for success
  • operate with a sense of urgency during busy periods while maintaining food quality and presentation
