Job Requirements
- Must be over 21 years old
- Ability to work long physical days with emotional resilience
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Able to travel and be away from home base for up to 3 days
- Full-time hours condensed into a 3-day workweek
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Legally permitted to work in the United States through the end of November
- Must obtain food handling and alcohol certifications if not currently possessed
- Comfortable accessing active railway environments
- Strong hygiene and safety adherence
- Willingness to engage with digital communication tools
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Fluency in English
- Current or past certifications in food handling, alcohol service, or first aid considered asset
- Commitment to food safety
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfort speaking on microphone to large groups and individuals
- Attention to detail
- Experience in serving and hosting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Prior cooking or culinary experience is a strong asset
- Empathetic and compassionate guest interaction

Job Duties
- Engage and interact with guests to explain menu and take orders
- Prepare dishes according to established recipes, plating specifications, and menus
- Sanitize dishes and equipment promptly to support daily services
- Organize food preparation processes to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain inventory of food, supplies, products, and equipment
- Ensure food delivery matches inventory requirements
- Document and communicate food quality, presentation, and packaging variations
- Manage time effectively to complete tasks and inspect food presentation
- Keep the galley efficiently organized and clean
- Understand and respond to guests' food allergies and dietary preferences
- Adhere to all Rocky Mountaineer safety and security standards
- Follow food safety and HACCP guidelines
- Comply with policies for personal protective equipment usage
- Maintain best practices for cleaning, slicing, equipment maintenance, and sanitizing
- Follow alcohol service regulations in Colorado and Utah
- Report safety issues promptly to supervisors
- Maintain a positive team attitude
- Adapt to working in multiple railcars and shifting teams
- Collaborate with hosts and leadership to provide seamless guest service
- Assist team members with inventory, cleanliness, safety, and equipment maintenance
- Identify operational efficiencies
- Facilitate training of new team members
- Demonstrate strong time management
- Participate in waste reduction initiatives
- Clean and stock railcars, galleys, and washrooms at journey ends
- Maintain correct inventory and reconcile after journeys
- Support composting initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Use company communication tools like Microsoft Teams and Outlook
