Job Requirements
- Must be over 21 years old
- Ability to work long days with exceptional physical endurance and emotional resiliency
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Willingness and ability to travel away from home base for up to 3 days
- Availability to work weekends and holidays
- Legal authorization to work in the United States through the end of November
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Fluency in English
- Food handling, alcohol service, or first aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Commitment to food safety
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- Experience in serving and hosting
- Prior culinary or cooking experience is an asset
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset
- Ability to communicate comfortably with individuals and groups
Job Duties
- Engage and interact with guests to explain menus and take orders
- Prepare dishes according to Rocky Mountaineer's recipes, plating, and menu specifications
- Sanitize dishes and equipment efficiently to support daily service
- Organize food preparation processes and coordinate service timing with the team
- Maintain inventory of food, supplies, and equipment as per procedures
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and packaging consistency and report to leadership
- Keep the galley clean, organized, and efficient
- Handle guests' food allergies and dietary preferences
- Adhere to safety, food handling, and HACCP guidelines
- Follow company policies on PPE, cleaning, refrigeration, and alcohol service
- Report safety issues promptly
- Collaborate with team members and adapt to varying railcars and teams
- Train new team members and facilitate seamless service delivery
- Manage time effectively and help reduce waste
- Clean and stock railcars, galleys, and washrooms at each journey leg
- Assist with composting initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned by onboard leadership
- Communicate actively using company tools such as Microsoft Teams and Outlook
