Job Requirements

  • Previous restaurant line, prep or sous chef experience required
  • Valid Oregon Food Handlers Card upon hire
  • Ability to operate food machinery with finger/hand dexterity
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry goods weighing up to 100 lbs on a continuous schedule
  • Maintain professional appearance and manner at all times
  • Communicate well with guests
  • Willingness to pitch-in and help co-workers
  • Availability to work regularly and comply with attendance rules

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in restaurant line, prep, or sous chef roles
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Proficient in operating kitchen equipment such as fryers, broilers and steamers
  • Ability to prepare and present food consistently following recipe and portion standards
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Open to training for advancement in kitchen roles

Job Duties

  • Maximize potential dining room and room service revenue through quality, uniformity, portion size and presentation of all food products
  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards per check from servers
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time without over-preparing estimated needs
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per Sheraton Hotel standards, ensuring all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set-up, and note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
  • Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, ensuring perishables are covered and dated
  • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, and control food waste, loss, and usage per Sheraton Hotel standards
  • Support all kitchen, banquet, and room service staff
  • Operate, maintain and properly clean kitchen equipment including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
