Job Requirements

  • Previous kitchen experience
  • Oregon Food Handler's Permit or ability to obtain prior to employment
  • Ability to grasp, lift or carry up to 100 lbs on a continuous schedule
  • Finger and hand dexterity to operate food machinery
  • Willingness to work regular shifts and comply with attendance rules
  • Professional appearance and communication skills
  • Team player attitude
  • Open to training for advancement

Job Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen experience
  • Ability to operate kitchen machinery including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, mixer, slicer and other related equipment
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and willingness to assist co-workers
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Ability to follow recipe cards and portion standards accurately
  • Flexibility to work regular and scheduled shifts
  • Willingness to undergo training for advancement
  • Food Handler's Permit or willingness to obtain one

Job Duties

  • Maximizing potential dining room and room service revenue through quality, uniformity, portion size and presentation of all food products
  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over-prepare estimated needs
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per Sheraton Hotel standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set-up
  • Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
  • Assist in keeping buffet stocked, if applicable
  • Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover and date all perishables
  • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, and control food waste, loss and usage per Sheraton Hotel standards
  • Support all kitchen, banquet, and room service staff
  • Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
