Hypsi is an exciting new Italian-inspired restaurant located in the heart of Houston Heights and is the signature dining experience at the recently opened Hotel Daphne. The restaurant is distinguished by its innovative menu featuring a robust pasta program alongside elegant and approachable entrees crafted to bring out the dynamic culinary spirit of Houston. Job Requirements

  • Able to perform the essential functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting quality standards
  • ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards
  • must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • must be able to sit, stand, and squat frequently

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • two years related experience in hospitality or service industry
  • must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff
  • must adhere to all hotel/company loss prevention guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of foods according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions following approved procedures
  • prep food items for after-hours distribution
  • clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware
  • store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
  • carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas
  • inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices
  • observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils
