Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience in a restaurant or food service environment
  • knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices
  • ability to use kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and roasters
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items
  • good communication and teamwork skills
  • flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment and utensils proficiently

Job Duties

  • Cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products
  • prepare and portion food products prior to cooking
  • plate and garnish cooked items following restaurant standards
  • inspect, clean, and maintain food preparation and serving areas for sanitation
  • regulate temperatures of kitchen equipment to ensure food safety
  • check freshness, quality and rotate food stock
  • weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • carve and trim meats for service
  • assist food prep assignments during off-peak periods
  • substitute for or assist other cooks during rush periods
  • close kitchen stations following the closing checklist
  • attend employee meetings and contribute suggestions
  • coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guest needs
  • fill in for fellow employees to ensure efficient operations
