Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • one to two years of culinary experience in related positions
  • knowledge of cooking and kitchen procedures
  • ability to lift up to 70 lbs regularly
  • capable of periodic climbing and bending
  • full range of mobility
  • able to stand continuously during preparation and service
  • able to hear equipment timers and communicate effectively
  • able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • one to two years of experience in a related culinary position
  • knowledge of cooking practices and kitchen procedures
  • ability to perform non-repetitive analytical work in the kitchen
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to follow recipe and production standards
  • capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • excellent communication skills

Job Duties

  • Check all items against the recipe cards
  • verify that use records are followed for all items served
  • ensure food is presented efficiently and with quality
  • monitor line set up prior to meal functions to maximize efficiency
  • oversee equipment maintenance and enforce kitchen clean-as-you-go policies
  • prepare food of consistent quality following production and portion standards
  • start food items prepared ahead of time without exceeding estimated needs
  • date all food containers and rotate per SOP
  • ensure perishables are at proper temperatures
  • check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation and line set up
  • note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
  • assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • return all unused food items to designated storage areas, covering and dating perishables
  • help implement plans to correct food cost problems and control food waste
  • maintain communication and coordination with other staff members
