Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current food handler's permit
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years of related food service and cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised
  • Dependability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies
  • Patience and compassion for senior adults
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform various movements
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current food handler's permit
  • Training in Servsafe is beneficial
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years of related and advanced food service and cooking experience preferred
  • Experience operating kitchen equipment
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to follow recipes and safety procedures
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles
  • Ability to work with residents and staff in a congenial manner
  • Ability to work some holidays and flexible hours

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food items to order for various meal periods
  • Operate grill station and other kitchen equipment
  • Follow recipes and product directions to ensure high-quality food preparation
  • Maintain sanitation standards and comply with safety regulations
  • Record temperatures and manage inventory
  • Plate food with attention to appearance and garnish
  • Assist with cleaning and breakdown of kitchen and serving areas
