Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Current Food Handler's Permit
- Compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Capability to perform physical activities such as stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling, and pushing
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to follow written instructions and recipes independently
- Must be dependable, detail oriented, and organized
- Ability to work with limited direct supervision
- Willingness to work some holidays and flexible hours
- Must have patience and compassion for senior residents
- Maintain neat and professional appearance
- Ability to operate basic kitchen equipment
- Completion of safety training and participation in hazard assessments
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Current Food Handler's Permit
- Training in Servsafe beneficial
- State sanitation certificate preferred
- 3-4 years of related and advanced food service and cooking experience desired
- Experience with basic kitchen equipment operation preferred
- Intermediate to advanced knife skills
- Extensive knowledge of kitchen environment and food preparation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised
- Computer literacy with basic functions
- Dependability and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to stay calm in emergency situations
- Patience and compassion for senior adults
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain professional appearance according to food code standards
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and serving principles
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and residents
- Willing to work flexible hours and some holidays
Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks foods to order for various meal periods
- May operate a grill station and prepare food for a la carte service
- Prepares food according to federal, state, and corporate standards and recipes
- Reads and interprets food orders and prepares food accordingly
- Maintains high quality and appearance of food presentation
- Produces small to large batch goods using classical cooking techniques
- Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment following regulatory rules
- Assists with set up and break down of serving lines and food areas
- Complies with company safety and risk management policies and participates in safety training
