Job Requirements

  • Two years of high-volume diner or restaurant experience
  • high school graduate
  • ability to work rotating shifts including every other weekend and holidays
  • food handling certification preferred
  • ability to operate commercial food production equipment
  • ability to lift and stand for extended periods
  • adherence to food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of high-volume diner or restaurant experience
  • culinary degree preferred
  • one year of high-volume a la carte experience preferred
  • food handling certification from Health Department City of Chicago preferred
  • high school graduate

Job Duties

  • Prepare room service menu items according to approved recipes and presentation standards
  • utilize a la carte cooking methods including sautéing, grilling, broiling, frying and plating
  • operate food production equipment such as tilt fryer, turbo chef ovens, floor mixer, pressure steamer, combi oven, convection oven, burner range, proof box, blast chiller, grill, and griddle
  • adhere to diet and allergy restrictions while preparing meals
  • maintain proper portion control and ensure food quality and temperature
  • clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas according to standards
  • assist in orientation of new employees and participate in department meetings and trainings
