Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Culinary arts or culinary apprenticeship preferred
  • One or more years of experience cooking in fast-paced, cook-to-order kitchen preferred
  • One or more years of experience with scratch cooking preferred
  • Sauté and/or broiler experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to use all kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull and work continuously without sitting for extended periods
  • Ability to lift or carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform all essential functions within varying temperature ranges

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Culinary arts or apprenticeship preferred
  • Experience cooking in a fast-paced, cook-to-order kitchen preferred
  • Experience with scratch cooking preferred
  • Sauté and/or broiler experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Manual dexterity to use kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required in kitchen environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare and control quality and quantity of food items including meats, vegetables, potatoes, bread products, and desserts
  • Follow community standards, processes, procedures, and practices in food preparation
  • Model professional, friendly, courteous, and timely service known as The Sterling Touch®
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and communicate effectively with residents and guests
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Support the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences
