Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for up to eight hours
  • able to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and push/pull equipment up to 250 lbs
  • possess manual dexterity to operate kitchen and office equipment
  • able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch
  • ability to work in extreme temperature conditions
  • maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
  • regular attendance and punctuality
  • comply with hotel safety standards and regulations
  • flexible with variable schedules
  • able to communicate effectively in the primary workplace language

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one to three years of culinary experience
  • state-required food handler certification if applicable
  • good verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to supervise line staff
  • artistic ability for menu and decoration creation
  • extensive knowledge of menu development and cost control
  • thorough knowledge of food products and preparation
  • ability to conduct meetings and maintain communication with staff and management

Job Duties

  • Read menu to estimate food requirements and assist Executive Chef with ordering
  • adjust thermostat controls to regulate kitchen equipment temperature
  • prepare food items using quality predetermined methods in a timely manner
  • measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • set up station with predetermined mise en place for functions
  • practice sanitation and safety daily to ensure guest satisfaction
  • consult with Executive Chef and other departments
  • participate in and recommend ongoing hotel programs
  • perform duties assigned by Managers and Supervisors
