Job Requirements

  • At least one year of cooking experience in a fast paced kitchen
  • Ability to prepare and cook meals following recipes
  • Basic math skills including percentages and quantities
  • Effective communication skills
  • Valid food handler card or equivalent certification as required by law
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to carry or lift items up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand and move safely in a kitchen environment
  • Ability to handle food and kitchen utensils safely
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel as needed

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year experience of cooking on a fast paced kitchen line and food preparation experience
  • Culinary certified training preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control, and presentation
  • Communication skills utilized frequently when interacting with cooks, wait staff and supervisors
  • Reading and writing abilities utilized often in meal preparation, scheduling, and inventory monitoring
  • Mathematical skills including basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agencies
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Job Duties

  • Control food usage to minimize waste
  • Prepare and cook orders for daily operations in a timely manner
  • Advise supervisor of low inventory items
  • Assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required
  • Restock items as needed throughout the shift
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area
  • Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area
  • Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
  • Perform ware washer or other kitchen duties as needed
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination
  • Occasionally interact directly with guests
  • Perform more than one task at a time
