Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- culinary school training preferred
- experience in quantity food preparation
- knowledge of kitchen health and safety standards
- ability to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
- state issued health card
- availability to work all shifts including weekends and evenings
- physical ability to lift up to 70lbs and push/pull up to 150lbs
- good hand-eye coordination
- ability to stand for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is desirable
- military school or formal on the job training preferred
- training from a culinary school will be an asset
- experience with quantity food preparation preferred
- knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
- team player with good communication skills
- patient with ability to stay positive under pressure
- demonstrate cooking skills and ability to follow established menus and recipes
- knowledge of proper nutritional requirements
- good listening skills to understand chef instructions
- physical stamina for long hours standing over stoves and grills
- must have state issued health card
- availability to work all shifts including weekends and evenings
- good hand-eye coordination and mental alertness
- ability to concentrate despite distractions
Job Duties
- Review menus and prepare food needed
- assure all food procedures are followed according to company and health codes
- coordinate food service with other departments
- follow all sanitation guidelines
- become familiar with new menu items and dishes
- set up and stock stations with necessary supplies
- clean stations and manage leftover food
- follow executive or sous chef instructions
- stock inventory appropriately
- ensure food comes out simultaneously in high quality and timely fashion
- comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- maintain positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
