Job Requirements

  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • have at least one year of kitchen experience
  • possess knowledge of professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • have knowledge of safety and food handling guidelines and procedures
  • have knowledge of local, state, and federal health and sanitation laws
  • hold a valid food handlers certification
  • be able to understand verbal and written directions in English
  • be able to use and maintain all major kitchen equipment
  • have great organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • be able to multi-task and work calmly and effectively under pressure

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • set up kitchen before shift and or tear down at end of day
  • operate workstations including griddle, deep fryer, cold side (salads and desserts)
  • inspect and maintain food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary practices
  • follow established recipes using kitchen equipment such as oven, mixer, slicer, stock kettle, microwave
  • follow check lists, prep lists, and order forms to ensure par levels and product quality
  • assist in prep work of vegetables and condiments for next shift
  • weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment
  • participate in cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and stations
  • wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables according to established recipes
  • portion, plate, and garnish warm and cold food items for servers
  • cook special orders for restaurant or banquet kitchen
  • follow procedures for cooling, portioning, labeling, and storing bulk recipes
  • execute restaurant and event plate ups and buffet items according to time constraints
  • follow all sanitation and safety regulations as directed by IDPH, OSHA, and HACCP
  • maintain cleanliness of all kitchen equipment
  • communicate product runouts, equipment issues, and quality of service
  • meet dress and grooming standards
  • maintain a clean and sanitary work area
  • provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers
