Job Requirements

  • Score of 90 percent or better on all health department inspections
  • Score of 90 percent or better on all mystery shopper reports
  • Follow all dress code requirements for kitchen position including chef shirt, black pants, apron, hat or hair net, black non skid shoes
  • No piercings and beard guards if necessary
  • No cell phone use unless on break
  • Document routine work in an operational manual
  • Follow all company policies and standards
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and company information
  • Ability to work varying shifts including AM and PM as specified by management
  • Minimum age 16 with some duties requiring age 18
  • Ability to speak, understand, read and write English
  • Wear hair above collar length
  • Ability to perform food preparation tasks including slicing, cutting, and garnishing
  • Conscientious about food waste
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment and clean it
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
  • Physical ability to lift and move items up to 75 pounds alone and up to 150 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to stand and walk for 6 to 10 hours
  • Ability to work in cold to hot kitchen environments
  • Mental alertness and calm communication skills
  • Ability to recognize hazards and follow safety instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen work preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and standards
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to stand and work for long hours in heat and smoke
  • Obtain Nueces County Food Handler's Permit
  • Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Bring food issues to kitchen manager attention to bring to weekly meetings
  • Meet or exceed "Water Street Way" standards for cleanliness, product quality and guest satisfaction
  • Provide quality prep by adhering to all recipe standards
  • Assist in the training of all kitchen positions following the kitchen training manual
  • Implement all systems and forms for kitchen stations
  • Follow all pars designed for kitchen stations
  • Stand on hard surfaces for shifts up to 10 hours
