Job Requirements
- Score of 90 percent or better on all health department inspections
- Score of 90 percent or better on all mystery shopper reports
- Follow all dress code requirements for kitchen position including chef shirt, black pants, apron, hat or hair net, black non skid shoes
- No piercings and beard guards if necessary
- No cell phone use unless on break
- Document routine work in an operational manual
- Follow all company policies and standards
- Maintain confidentiality of client and company information
- Ability to work varying shifts including AM and PM as specified by management
- Minimum age 16 with some duties requiring age 18
- Ability to speak, understand, read and write English
- Wear hair above collar length
- Ability to perform food preparation tasks including slicing, cutting, and garnishing
- Conscientious about food waste
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment and clean it
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
- Physical ability to lift and move items up to 75 pounds alone and up to 150 pounds with assistance
- Ability to stand and walk for 6 to 10 hours
- Ability to work in cold to hot kitchen environments
- Mental alertness and calm communication skills
- Ability to recognize hazards and follow safety instructions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen work preferred
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and standards
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to stand and work for long hours in heat and smoke
- Obtain Nueces County Food Handler's Permit
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to work as part of a team
Job Duties
- Bring food issues to kitchen manager attention to bring to weekly meetings
- Meet or exceed "Water Street Way" standards for cleanliness, product quality and guest satisfaction
- Provide quality prep by adhering to all recipe standards
- Assist in the training of all kitchen positions following the kitchen training manual
- Implement all systems and forms for kitchen stations
- Follow all pars designed for kitchen stations
- Stand on hard surfaces for shifts up to 10 hours
