Job Requirements
- Be punctual to begin your work
- Wear proper uniform including black slacks, Black Bear Diner tee-shirt, hat and slip-proof black shoes
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance including trimmed facial hair and clean nails
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures to avoid contamination
- Stand, walk and stay on feet for prolonged periods, up to four hours
- Lift up to 75 pounds as needed
- Perform repetitive motions such as line cooking with a spatula
- Follow all cooking procedures and temperature guidelines as per standards
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar cooking role preferred
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes strictly
- Good communication skills to coordinate with kitchen team
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items
- Ability to work flexible hours including overtime when required
Job Duties
- Ensure all cooking procedures and recipes follow Black Bear Diner standards
- Stock all cooking stations fully at the start of each shift while following food safety and sanitation procedures
- Cook all hot and cold food items at proper temperatures adhering to specific cooking procedures
- Verify all food orders for completeness and accuracy before they are sent out
- Pay attention to wheel callers for proper cooking items and prepare breakfast meals cooked to order
- Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation by washing hands after handling raw meats and using clean knives
- Keep kitchen stations, floors, freezers, and refrigerators clean and at proper temperatures
- Conduct temperature checks every two hours and log results accurately
- Report any shortages in food supplies immediately
- Deep clean kitchen line at the end of each shift
- Follow safety procedures while working on the cooking line
- Take breaks on time and work overtime if needed
- Complete any additional tasks assigned by management willingly
