Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of culinary experience in a full-service, high-volume restaurant
- Solid understanding of culinary fundamentals including cooking methods, mise en place, and knife skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to consistency, cleanliness, and proper food safety practices
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills
- Food handler certification as required by state and local regulations
- Desire to learn, grow, and refine culinary skills within a professional environment
Job Duties
- Execute all menu recipes with precision, consistency, and adherence to Vandelay's culinary standards
- Prepare dishes according to guest requests, portion guidelines, temperature specifications, and company timing standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked station throughout service, following all food safety and sanitation procedures
- Prioritize and manage multiple tickets at once, ensuring accuracy and seamless pacing during high-volume periods
- Collaborate closely with the culinary team and front-of-house partners to support smooth, efficient service
- Follow proper cooking techniques, knife skills, and equipment usage to ensure quality and safety
- Uphold plate presentation standards so every dish leaving the kitchen reflects Vandelay's commitment to excellence
- Assist with daily prep, stock rotation, and storage to maintain freshness and consistency across all menu items
- Execute opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures according to kitchen guidelines
