Job Requirements

  • may require a food handler's certification depending on local regulations
  • must have a valid form of identification
  • must have the knowledge to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • must have the knowledge to calculate figures such as discounts and tips
  • ability to apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
  • must have the ability to use common sense to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
  • must be able to creatively solve problems using experience and outside-the-box mindset
  • physical ability to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand, walk, reach, handle, talk, hear, taste, smell
  • ability to sit, climb stairs and maintain balance occasionally
  • must have close, distance, and peripheral vision with depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • sufficient physical mobility and agility to respond quickly to emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of related high-volume cooking experience
  • basic understanding of cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • excellent customer service skills with polite and attentive demeanor
  • flexibility to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • basic knowledge of English
  • ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written company directives
  • knowledge and understanding of government policies and regulations
  • ability to answer questions and speak before groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public

Job Duties

  • Set up and stock workstation with minimal supervision
  • executing menu items from start to finish including preparation of ingredients, butchery of proteins, cooking and plating of menu items
  • working with seasonal ingredients
  • participating in the preparation and development of new menu items
  • perfecting existing skills while learning new techniques and building new skill set
  • mastering more than one specific station such as grill, sauté, fryer or garde manger
  • maintaining cleanliness of any back-of-house work areas including refrigeration, cooking equipment, and prep areas
  • participating in regular and deep cleaning of back-of-house work areas
