Job Requirements
- Must be able to work on your feet for up to 12 hours
- position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting products and supplies weighing 20 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
- repetitive hand and wrist motion
- ability to work from 1:30 pm to close, Tuesday through Saturday
- flexibility to work additional hours or on-call catering shifts as needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen
- knowledge of various cooking techniques such as poaching, braising, roasting, charbroiling, sautéing, grilling, frying, and baking
- ability to follow recipes accurately
- strong time management skills
- ability to work effectively as part of a team
- understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen environment
- physical stamina to withstand prolonged standing and manual tasks
- good communication skills
Job Duties
- Consistently providing quality food preparation and service
- providing speed, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment
- cleaning and maintaining kitchen, prep and dish areas, and equipment
- understanding and proper use of recipes and kitchen equipment
- flexibility in executing varying events and seasonal menus
- maintaining Health Department cleanliness and safety standards
- adhere to established storage and waste control standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products to ensure quality food is served
- cook food orders at stations by following established recipes and presentation standards for grilling, broiling, and sautéing menu items
- keep all workstations, counters, cooking equipment, and refrigerators clean and sanitary according to health and safety rules
- set up cooking stations and fill them with all of the essential preparation items for a shift
- demonstrate a professional and pleasant demeanor when interacting with visitors, vendors, and associates
