Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification by first day of work
- minimum one year experience as a line cook or cook preferred
- ability to read and follow recipes and instructions
- ability to stand for long periods
- physical ability to lift, transport, pull, and push supplies and equipment
- ability to tolerate extremes of temperature and exposure to cleaning chemicals
- availability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays with at least three weekend rotations per month
- effective communication skills
- ability to work independently and in a team
- manual dexterity to operate kitchen and related equipment
Job Qualifications
- Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work
- one or more years of experience as a Line Cook or Cook in a restaurant or healthcare setting preferred
- demonstrated ability to read and communicate effectively in English
- demonstrated ability to work independently and part of a team
- demonstrated ability to utilize safe food handling techniques
- understands workflow, prioritizes tasks, uses timelines, and meets deadlines
- demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service preferred
- understands and prepares food according to modified diets preferred
- demonstrated ability to utilize commercial cooking equipment preferred
Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks food
- serves customers
- follows recipes and instructions in food preparation
- prepares bulk food items and large-scale production
- maintains an organized and sanitary working environment
- maintains proper quantities and product rotation
- interacts with customers in catering, retail, or patient care venues
- may deliver patient meals, cashier, stock, and operate ware-washing machines
