Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification by first day of work
  • minimum one year experience as a line cook or cook preferred
  • ability to read and follow recipes and instructions
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • physical ability to lift, transport, pull, and push supplies and equipment
  • ability to tolerate extremes of temperature and exposure to cleaning chemicals
  • availability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays with at least three weekend rotations per month
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • manual dexterity to operate kitchen and related equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work
  • one or more years of experience as a Line Cook or Cook in a restaurant or healthcare setting preferred
  • demonstrated ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • demonstrated ability to work independently and part of a team
  • demonstrated ability to utilize safe food handling techniques
  • understands workflow, prioritizes tasks, uses timelines, and meets deadlines
  • demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service preferred
  • understands and prepares food according to modified diets preferred
  • demonstrated ability to utilize commercial cooking equipment preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks food
  • serves customers
  • follows recipes and instructions in food preparation
  • prepares bulk food items and large-scale production
  • maintains an organized and sanitary working environment
  • maintains proper quantities and product rotation
  • interacts with customers in catering, retail, or patient care venues
  • may deliver patient meals, cashier, stock, and operate ware-washing machines
